Your reading skills might be extremely poor despite how long you were immersed in English.
Even without considering the reading section, I believe reading is THE MOST CRITICAL SKILL one can have because the faster you read, the faster you will understand the prompts or the questions on the test.
Therefore, there are 2 things one has to know.
Grammar and Advanced Connectors
Grammar is actually the first thing one must know, and by saying "advanced connectors," I don't mean "first," "for example," "in addition," and all those super basic ones every English teacher would teach you. I'm talking about connectors you will only find in academic and literary texts.
Reading
I can say that if you have never finished reading a whole literary book or novel in English and are not accustomed to reading the news, you will fail miserably on both the reading and listening sections.
Online Free Reading Practice
You will notice many or maybe lots of words and phrases you have never seen before when you are reading. That's what separates a reader from a non-reader. Non-readers will struggle until they had read sufficient texts.
